Nirmal Gosavi

The Artistic Director, Nirmal Gosavi started learning dance at the age of eight in Mumbai, India.She has learnt Bharatnatyam and has also completed formal training in folk dance under the guidance of Guru Ramesh Purav, and Guru Acharya Parvati Kumar. Over the years, Nirmal has performed in several productions including TV shows and professional stage shows. One of her popular characters is "Durga" and "Gauri", which were the lead roles in the Marathi dance drama "Durga Jhali Gauri". This production has been the most popular Marathi musical dance drama on the stage for past 25 years and has been running successfully even today.

Nirmal has also been a successful choreographer for the last 22 years, and has been choreographing numerous folk dances from different states in India.

Since 1999, Nirmal has also been choreographing stage plays and dances for the Brihan Maharashtra Mandal (BMM) conventions held at San Jose, Calgary, Atlanta and Seattle, as well as conventions for Goan Organization in America and the Konkani convention. Along with choreographing for leading corporations, Nirmal also did the choreography for the commercially staged musical "Badkanche Gupit" and productions for various public and private schools in the Bay Area.

Nirmal's graceful dances and intricate choreographies have won numerous awards over the past 10 years in the most popular and recognized dance competitions in the Bay Area. Her dances emote her passion and love for Indian folk dancing, and take her a step closer towards fulfilling her goal of sharing the true spirit behind the art as well as the rich Indian heritage.
